Type

HGH (Human Growth Hormone), also known as somatotropin, is a 191-amino-acid peptide hormone produced by somatotropic cells of the anterior pituitary gland. It drives anabolic processes by binding to the GH receptor and stimulating IGF-1 production, promoting muscle growth, fat oxidation, and tissue repair. FDA-approved recombinant HGH (somatropin) is used clinically for GH deficiency, HIV-associated wasting, and short bowel syndrome, while it is also widely used off-label in anti-aging and performance contexts.

Top researched benefits

Overview of HGH

HGH binds to homodimeric growth hormone receptors (GHR) on target cells, activating JAK2 kinase and phosphorylating STAT5 transcription factors, which drive IGF-1 gene expression in the liver and peripheral tissues. Directly, HGH promotes lipolysis and protein synthesis; indirectly, IGF-1 mediates muscle hypertrophy, bone growth, and anabolic signaling.

  • FDA-approved for childhood-onset or adult-onset causes (pituitary tumors, surgery, radiation, trauma).
  • FDA-approved to increase lean body mass and body weight in cachexia.

body composition

  • Significant fat loss especially abdominal/visceral fat over 1-3 months.
  • Increased muscle mass and improved body composition.
  • Enhanced exercise recovery and tissue healing.

HGH Protocols

Subcutaneous injection is the standard and most effective route for HGH administration, providing reliable systemic absorption and predictable IGF-1 elevation. Common injection sites include the abdomen (at least 2 inches from the navel), outer thighs, and posterior upper arms, with site rotation required to prevent lipodystrophy.

Reconstitution Instructions

Materials needed:

Lyophilized HGH vial (10 IU typical)Bacteriostatic water (BAC water), 1–3 mL per vialInsulin syringes (0.5–1 mL, 29–31 gauge, 8 mm needle)Alcohol swabsRefrigerator for storage

Steps to reconstitute

  1. Allow the lyophilized HGH vial and bacteriostatic water (BAC water) to reach room temperature before reconstituting.
  2. Wipe the rubber stopper of both the HGH vial and the BAC water vial with a fresh alcohol swab and allow to air dry.
  3. Draw the desired volume of BAC water into an insulin syringe — typically 1 mL per 10 IU vial for a 1:1 mL ratio, or up to 3 mL per vial for easier dosing calculations.
  4. Tilt the HGH vial at a 45-degree angle and slowly inject the BAC water down the inner wall of the vial — never shoot it directly onto the powder.
  5. Gently swirl the vial between your palms in slow circular motions until the powder is fully dissolved into a clear solution. Do not shake or agitate.
  6. Store the reconstituted vial in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. Use within 3 weeks when reconstituted with BAC water, or within 5 days if sterile water was used.
  7. Before each injection, wipe the vial stopper and the intended injection site with a fresh alcohol swab and allow to dry.
  8. Draw the calculated dose into a fresh insulin syringe, insert at a 45-degree angle into a subcutaneous site, and depress the plunger slowly.
  9. Rotate injection sites with each administration to prevent tissue atrophy at any single site.

HGH Cycle

The HGH Cycle section explains how long a typical cycle lasts and what to expect during each phase. Over time, your body can become less responsive with continuous use.

Taking breaks between cycles may help maintain effectiveness and support better overall results.

Week 1-2
Improved sleep quality, increased energy, possible water retention and joint stiffness
Week 2-4
Enhanced exercise recovery, skin improvement, possible carpal tunnel symptoms
Month 1-2
Noticeable fat loss (especially abdominal), improved skin elasticity and texture
Month 2-3
Continued fat loss, lean mass improvements, hair/nail growth, reduced recovery time
Month 3-6
Significant body composition changes, improved bone density, sustained energy/well-being
Week 0-0
Maintained benefits; effects diminish weeks-months after discontinuation

Frequently asked questions

What is a peptide dosage calculator?

A peptide dosage calculator is a free tool that converts your vial size, bacteriostatic water volume, and target dose into an exact syringe draw volume. Instead of doing the reconstitution math by hand, you enter three inputs and instantly get the concentration of your solution and how many milliliters or syringeunits to draw. This calculator works for single peptide compounds and multi-peptide blends.

How do I calculate peptide dosage from a vial?

To calculate your peptide dose, divide the total peptide content of your vial in micrograms by the volume of bacteriostatic water you added in milliliters. This gives you your solution concentration in mcg/mL. Then divide your target dose by that concentration to get your draw volume. For example, a 5mg (5,000 mcg) vial reconstituted with 2mL of BAC water gives a concentration of 2,500 mcg/mL. A 250 mcg dose would require drawing 0.1mL. This calculator automates all of those steps instantly.

How much Bacteriostatic water should I add to a peptide vial?

Most people add 2mL to 3mL of bacteriostatic water per vial, but the right amount depends on the dose you want to draw and the syringe size you are using. Adding 1mL to a 5mg vial gives you a concentration of 5,000 mcg/mL, making each dose very small in volume. Adding 2mL gives you 2,500 mcg/mL, which is easier to measure on a standard insulin syringe. A general guideline is to choose a volume that puts your typical dose somewhere between 10 and 30 units on a U-100 syringe. Use the calculator above to test different water volumes and find what works for your dose.

How are peptides different from proteins?

Both are made of amino acids, but peptides are much smaller than proteins. Because of their tiny size, peptides can act like tiny messengers in the body, sending specific signals to your cells to tell them exactly what to do.
