Type

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) derived from the bovine pineal gland extract epithalamin, studied primarily for its geroprotective and anti-aging properties. It activates telomerase enzyme activity, promoting telomere elongation in human somatic cells and extending replicative lifespan beyond the Hayflick limit. It is used in longevity research and by biohackers seeking cellular rejuvenation, circadian rhythm restoration, and lifespan extension.

Top researched benefits

Overview of Epitalon

Epitalon upregulates telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) activity, elongating telomeres in aging somatic cells to delay replicative senescence. It also directly influences melatonin synthesis in pineal cells via AANAT and pCREB modulation, reduces oxidative stress by enhancing superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activity, and binds specific DNA sequences (ATTTC and CAG regions) to exert epigenetic regulatory effects.

antiaging

  • Activates telomerase at microgram doses to extend telomeres and cellular replicative lifespan.
  • Reverses aging markers and improves mitochondrial function at the cellular level.
  • Animal studies show 25-33% lifespan increases using 30-40mcg/kg doses.

neuroprotection

  • Restores pineal gland function and circadian melatonin rhythm in elderly.
  • Supports new neuron formation at nanogram concentrations.
  • 90% response rate for retinal degeneration at 5mcg per eye dosing.

immunity

  • Supports thymus gland regeneration for improved immune function.
  • Enhanced immune surveillance and countering of immunosenescence.

Epitalon Protocols

Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection is the best-documented and most bioavailable delivery route for Epitalon, with the majority of human and animal research conducted using this method. Most protocols administer SubQ in the abdomen each evening during a defined 10–20 day cycle, repeated once or twice per year with a 4–6 month off-cycle interval.

Reconstitution Instructions

Materials needed:

Lyophilized Epitalon vial (10 mg or 50 mg)Bacteriostatic water (BAC water), 2 mL per 10 mg vialSterile reconstitution syringe (3–5 mL) for adding BAC waterInsulin syringes (0.5–1 mL, 29–31 gauge) for drawing and injecting dosesAlcohol swabsSharps disposal container

Steps to reconstitute

  1. Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water into a sterile 3–5 mL reconstitution syringe
  2. Insert the needle into the Epitalon vial at an angle and inject the BAC water slowly down the inside wall of the vial — do not aim directly onto the powder
  3. Remove the syringe and gently swirl the vial until the powder is fully dissolved — do not shake
  4. Label the vial with the reconstitution date and store in the refrigerator at 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F), protected from light
  5. Use the reconstituted solution within 28 days; discard if it appears cloudy or contains visible particles
  6. To draw a dose, insert a fresh insulin syringe into the vial and withdraw the calculated volume corresponding to your target dose
  7. Pinch a small fold of skin on the abdomen, insert the needle at a 45-degree angle, and inject slowly; rotate sites across the abdomen, thighs, and upper arms each day to avoid tissue buildup

Epitalon Cycle

The Epitalon Cycle section explains how long a typical cycle lasts and what to expect during each phase. Over time, your body can become less responsive with continuous use.

Taking breaks between cycles may help maintain effectiveness and support better overall results.

Frequently asked questions

What is a peptide dosage calculator?

A peptide dosage calculator is a free tool that converts your vial size, bacteriostatic water volume, and target dose into an exact syringe draw volume. Instead of doing the reconstitution math by hand, you enter three inputs and instantly get the concentration of your solution and how many milliliters or syringeunits to draw. This calculator works for single peptide compounds and multi-peptide blends.

How do I calculate peptide dosage from a vial?

To calculate your peptide dose, divide the total peptide content of your vial in micrograms by the volume of bacteriostatic water you added in milliliters. This gives you your solution concentration in mcg/mL. Then divide your target dose by that concentration to get your draw volume. For example, a 5mg (5,000 mcg) vial reconstituted with 2mL of BAC water gives a concentration of 2,500 mcg/mL. A 250 mcg dose would require drawing 0.1mL. This calculator automates all of those steps instantly.

How much Bacteriostatic water should I add to a peptide vial?

Most people add 2mL to 3mL of bacteriostatic water per vial, but the right amount depends on the dose you want to draw and the syringe size you are using. Adding 1mL to a 5mg vial gives you a concentration of 5,000 mcg/mL, making each dose very small in volume. Adding 2mL gives you 2,500 mcg/mL, which is easier to measure on a standard insulin syringe. A general guideline is to choose a volume that puts your typical dose somewhere between 10 and 30 units on a U-100 syringe. Use the calculator above to test different water volumes and find what works for your dose.

How are peptides different from proteins?

Both are made of amino acids, but peptides are much smaller than proteins. Because of their tiny size, peptides can act like tiny messengers in the body, sending specific signals to your cells to tell them exactly what to do.
