We tracked 177 live offers across 14 vendors and 13 peptides. See real per-vial and per-mg prices, monthly protocol costs, and why the same vial varies 8x.
Research peptide vials cost between $30 and $550 each, and a typical monthly protocol runs $28 to $364 depending on the compound and the dose. Those are not estimates. On August 6, 2026 we checked 177 live offers across 14 vendors and 13 peptides, and every figure on this page comes from that dataset.
Most articles answering this question quote a single vague band like "$150 to $500 per month" and never name a peptide, a vendor, or a vial. That number describes a clinic invoice, not a vial of lyophilized powder. The two things differ by a factor of ten, and nobody explains why.
This page does. It covers what each peptide costs right now, what a month of it works out to at real dosing, why the identical 10mg vial sells for $40 at one vendor and $332 at another, and what price is low enough that you should walk away.
How much do peptides cost? The short answer
A single research peptide vial costs $30 to $550. Run as an actual protocol, most peptides land between $28 and $180 per month. The cheapest thing we track is a 10mg Melanotan I vial at $30. The most expensive is a 100mg retatrutide vial at $550, though that one works out to the lowest per-milligram price of any GLP compound in the dataset.

The gap between row one and row three is the single biggest cost lever available, and it is the reason a protocol quoted at $500 a month by a clinic can map to under $100 a month in vials.

Peptide prices by sourcing tier
Same molecule, four supply chains, four completely different numbers. Understanding which tier a quote came from explains almost every confusing price you will encounter.
Tier 1: research vendors ($30 to $550 per vial)
This is the cheapest route and the one our dataset covers. Vendors sell lyophilized powder labeled for laboratory research, you reconstitute it yourself with bacteriostatic water, and there is no consultation fee, no provider, and no markup for service.
Across 13 peptides, the full observed range was $30 to $550 per vial. Per milligram, the range was $1.23 to $178. That second spread is the one that matters, and it is covered in detail below.
Quality control varies enormously at this tier. Some vendors publish a batch-specific third-party certificate of analysis with a purity percentage and a mass spec report. Others publish nothing. Tier 2: telehealth and compounding pharmacies ($96 to $400 per month)
A licensed provider writes a prescription and a compounding pharmacy fills it, usually as a pre-mixed vial or pen. Telehealth has pushed the floor here down to roughly $96 to $200 per month for a single peptide.
The February 2026 HHS Category 1 designation changed the landscape for around 14 peptides, and compounding availability for specific compounds now shifts more often than it used to. Prices at this tier are less stable than they look.
Tier 3: in-clinic peptide therapy ($150 to $2,000+ per month)

The number most cost articles quote. It bundles the consultation, baseline bloodwork, the peptide itself, supplies, and often administration or follow-up visits.
Published clinic rate cards run from about $445 for a single-peptide cycle to $3,305 for a four-peptide stack across three cycles. Add $100 to $300 for pre-treatment labs. The peptide is a small fraction of what you are paying for.
Tier 4: FDA-approved branded pharmaceuticals
Where an approved drug exists, this is the reference price. Branded tirzepatide and semaglutide run well over $1,000 per month at cash pricing. Insurance sometimes applies, though rarely for the off-label uses most people are asking about.

BPC-157 price
A 10mg vial of BPC-157 starts at $44 and runs to $249. That is a 5.66x spread on the identical product. The 5mg size starts at $35 and tops out at $166.
Best per-milligram value sits at $4.40 on a 10mg vial. Published COA purity across vendors ranges 99.18% to 100%, though 9 of 13 vendors publish batch-level certificates and the rest do not. Our BPC-157 vendor comparison breaks down who tests what.
TB-500 price
TB-500 has the widest price spread of anything we track. A 10mg vial ranges from $40 to $332. Same size, same compound, 8.3x difference.
The 5mg tier is barely better at 7.93x, running $34 to $269.75. Best per-milligram price is $4.00. Two vendors publish self-tested purity rather than third-party results, which is worth knowing before you assume the expensive one is the safer one. GLP-3 (Retatrutide) price
Retatrutide vials run $54 for 5mg up to $550 for 100mg. Priced per milligram, the picture inverts: the $550 vial is the cheapest option at $5.50 per mg, while the $54 vial works out to $10.80.
All four vendors carrying it are third-party tested, with published purity from 99.49% to 99.991%. Twelve of the 21 offers still show no purity percentage, because a COA link without a stated number renders as unreported.

GLP-2 (Tirzepatide) price
Tirzepatide ranges from $51 for a 5mg vial to $400 for 60mg. Per milligram, the 60mg vial at $280 is the best value in the set at $4.67, versus $11.50 for a 10mg vial from the same vendor.
Only three vendors carry it, which is the thinnest competition of any compound we track. Thin competition usually means less price pressure.

Tesamorelin price
Tesamorelin spans $30 to $208. The 5mg tier alone runs $38 to $207.50, a 5.46x spread. Ten-milligram vials are tighter, $68 to $149.97.
Published purity is the widest range in the dataset at 97.736% to 99.97%, and that bottom figure came from a vendor that publishes a full third-party certificate. Ipamorelin price
Ipamorelin is the cheapest growth-hormone-adjacent compound we track, and it has one of the tightest spreads. A 10mg vial runs $44 to $95, a 2.16x range. Five-milligram vials go $30 to $64.99.

KPV price
KPV comes in more vial sizes than almost anything else, which makes per-vial comparison useless. A 4mg vial starts at $39, 5mg at $40, and 10mg at $44.
That 10mg vial at $44 is $4.40 per mg. The 4mg vial at $39 is $9.75 per mg. Buying the cheaper vial costs you more than twice as much per milligram of peptide.
Cagrilintide price
Cagrilintide runs $49 to $170. Five-milligram vials show a 3.47x spread and 10mg vials a 1.93x spread. Best per-milligram price is $8.80, which makes it one of the more expensive compounds by weight in the dataset.
Only five vendors carry it. Four of five are third-party tested, with purity from 99.76% to 99.873%.
KLOW Blend price
The KLOW blend is the best per-milligram value we track by a wide margin: $1.23 per mg at the cheapest offer. That is partly a function of the 80mg vial size, since blends are sold in larger totals.
Full range is $98 to $315 across nine vendors. Six of nine are third-party tested. The blend combines GHK-Cu, BPC-157, TB-500 and KPV, so a single vial replaces four separate purchases.
Melanotan I price
Melanotan I has the tightest price spread of anything in the dataset. A 10mg vial ranges $30 to $59.99, exactly 2.0x. Nine vendors, all in stock at capture, six of nine third-party tested.
Best per-milligram price is $3.00, the second cheapest single compound we track.
Pinealon price
Pinealon 20mg vials run $55 to $249, a 4.53x spread. Per milligram the cheapest is $2.75, which makes it inexpensive by weight despite the high top-end vial price.

Only 3 of 10 vendors are third-party tested, the weakest testing coverage of any compound here except PE-22-28. Published purity where available is 99.2% to 99.72%.
PE-22-28 price
PE-22-28 has the thinnest testing coverage in the dataset: 1 of 5 vendors third-party tested, with a single published purity figure of 98.8%. Prices run $50 to $208.
The 10mg vials at $50 and $54 are the value plays at $5.00 and $5.40 per mg. The 8mg tier is worse per milligram in every case.
Illumineuro Blend price
Only one vendor carries the Illumineuro blend, at $175 for a 50mg vial. That works out to $3.50 per mg, and with a single supplier there is no price comparison to make.

How much do peptides cost per month?
Vial price tells you very little on its own. What matters is how many vials a real protocol consumes. Using the dosing referenced in each peptide's Peptide Mind dosage guide, here is what a month works out to at current vendor prices.

How to calculate your own monthly peptide cost
Four steps, and you can do it for any compound:
Dose x frequency = mg per month. 500 mcg daily is 0.5 x 30 = 15mg. A 5-on-2-off schedule is roughly 21.4 dosing days.
mg per month ÷ vial size = vials per month. 15mg ÷ a 10mg vial = 1.5 vials.
Vials x vial price = monthly cost. 1.5 x $44 = $66.
Divide vial price by vial size for the per-mg figure so you can compare across sizes.

Price per milligram is the number that matters
Vial price is a packaging decision. Price per milligram is what you are buying.
The clearest illustration in the whole dataset is KPV. A 4mg vial at $39 looks cheaper than a 10mg vial at $44. Per milligram, the 4mg vial costs $9.75 and the 10mg costs $4.40. The cheaper vial is 2.2x more expensive.
Bigger vials cost up to 62% less per milligram
This holds across vendors and compounds, and the effect is largest on GLP peptides.

Same vendor. Same compound. The only variable is vial size.
There is a catch. A reconstituted vial has a limited window, generally 28 days refrigerated, so a 100mg vial only saves you money if your protocol consumes it before it degrades. Buying bulk you cannot use is not a discount. Check how long bacteriostatic water lasts and follow proper storage practice before scaling up.
Why does the same peptide cost 8x more from one vendor than another?
TB-500, 10mg, in stock at both vendors on the same day. One charges $40. The other charges $332.
Across every peptide and vial size we tracked, the median spread was 3.47x and the maximum was 8.3x. Four things drive it.
Third-party COA testing
Independent lab verification costs money per batch, and vendors who pay for it price it in. In our dataset third-party testing coverage ranged from 1 of 5 vendors on PE-22-28 to 4 of 4 on retatrutide.
Two vendors publish self-tested purity, which is not the same thing. A number the vendor generated about its own product carries less weight than a Janoshik or comparable independent report.
Vendor service model and markup
Some vendors operate on thin margins and high volume. Others position as premium and price accordingly, with better packaging, faster shipping, and more responsive support. Neither model tells you anything about what is in the vial.
Vial size and bulk pricing
A meaningful chunk of any apparent price gap is a size comparison in disguise. Always normalize to price per milligram before concluding a vendor is expensive.

List price versus sale price
At least 25 offers in our dataset carried an active sale price below the list price shown on the comparison table. A few examples from August 6: a tirzepatide 10mg listed at $81 was selling at $64.80, a tesamorelin 5mg listed at $89.99 was selling at $50, and a TB-500 10mg listed at $120 was selling at $90.

What price differences do not tell you
Price is not a quality signal in either direction, and the data is unambiguous on this.
The most expensive offer on six of the thirteen peptides we track came from a single vendor rated 4.0 out of 5. Meanwhile the cheapest offer on five peptides came from a vendor rated 4.8 with over 400 reviews. Paying more bought nothing measurable in those cases.
What price is too cheap to trust?
There is a floor below which the arithmetic stops working. Synthesis, purification, lyophilization, vialing, testing and shipping all cost something.
As a rough guide from this dataset, sustained pricing below roughly $2 per milligram on a single (non-blend) research peptide deserves scrutiny. Blends are different, since they are sold in larger totals and legitimately reach $1.23 per mg.
Signals worth more than the price tag:
No certificate of analysis at all. Not a batch number, not a link, nothing.
A COA with no batch identifier, so it cannot be tied to the vial you receive.
Self-tested purity only. The vendor graded its own work.
A COA link with no stated purity percentage. Common, and not automatically disqualifying, but worth asking about.
No mass spectrometry, which confirms the molecule is the one on the label.
Prices that never move while every other vendor's fluctuate.

Waste is the hidden line item nobody budgets for. A vial ruined by a freeze-thaw cycle or left at room temperature past its window costs you the full vial price and buys you nothing.
Does insurance cover peptides?
For research peptides purchased from a vendor, no. There is no billing code, no prescription, and no claim to submit.
For FDA-approved peptide drugs prescribed for their approved indication, coverage sometimes applies. Tesamorelin as Egrifta for HIV-associated lipodystrophy is an example. Off-label use is rarely covered even when the same molecule is involved.

Some clinic-administered peptide therapy qualifies for HSA or FSA reimbursement when a provider documents medical necessity, though this varies by plan and administrator. You will find claims elsewhere that insurance "may partially cover peptide therapy if deemed medically necessary." Treat that as optimistic. Verify with your plan before assuming it.
How to lower your peptide costs without cutting corners
Six levers, roughly in order of impact:
Compare per milligram, never per vial. This alone is worth 50%+ on GLP compounds and catches the KPV-style trap where the cheaper vial costs more.
Buy the largest vial your protocol will finish inside the stability window. Not larger.
Check checkout price against list price. Roughly one in seven offers we tracked was on sale below its listed price.
Consider a blend when it matches your protocol. KLOW at $1.23 per mg replaces four separate vials.
Microdose where the research supports it. Retatrutide at 0.5mg weekly is $12 to $31 per month against $283 to $746 at the top of the range.
Store correctly. A ruined vial is a 100% loss, and it is the most avoidable cost on this page.

How long do 10 vials of peptides last?
It depends entirely on dose and vial size. Ten 10mg BPC-157 vials is 100mg total, which at 500 mcg daily lasts about 6.7 months. The formula: total mg ÷ (daily dose in mg x dosing days per month) = months of supply. Reconstituted vials only stay stable about 28 days refrigerated, so you cannot mix them all at once.
Are peptides worth the money?
That depends on what you are comparing against and what the evidence supports for your specific compound. On pure cost, research vendors are 5x to 15x cheaper than clinic-administered therapy for the same molecule. On evidence, the quality of research varies enormously between peptides, and price tells you nothing about it.
Are peptides actually worth it?
The honest answer is that it varies by compound. Some peptides have substantial preclinical and clinical literature behind them. Others have a handful of animal studies and a lot of marketing. Evaluate the research for the specific peptide rather than the category, and treat cost as a separate question from evidence.

Do I need a prescription to buy peptides?
Not from research vendors. Compounds sold for laboratory research use are not dispensed under prescription. That also means no provider oversight, no pharmacy quality control, and no regulatory guarantee about what is in the vial. Telehealth and compounding routes require a prescription and cost more accordingly.
Can I just buy peptides?

Why are peptides so expensive?
Peptide synthesis is a stepwise chemical process where each amino acid is added individually, so cost scales with sequence length. Purification, lyophilization, sterile vialing and third-party testing add more. Where the price is very high, though, the driver is usually the sourcing tier rather than manufacturing: a clinic charging $500 per month is charging for a service model, not for a more expensive molecule.
